Happy short week, friends. Since Monday turned into an “Un‑Labor Day Labor Day,” I’m sharing this week’s reflection a little later — but in a way that feels perfectly aligned with the theme: the beauty of being flexible, curious, and open to what unfolds.

But the question I hear most often is: “How do I find my anchor?”

And here’s the beautiful truth: Your anchor is already inside you. You’ve been carrying it for years.

For me, libraries are the ultimate anchor. They reveal how a city thinks, gathers, and expresses itself. But your anchor might be botanical gardens, bakeries, textiles, street markets, photography, or even bees. Yes — bees. (We’ll get to that.)

If you’re unsure where to begin, these five questions will help you uncover the passion that’s been quietly guiding you all along.
1. What do you naturally gravitate toward at home?
Your everyday fascinations are your strongest travel clues. If you love pottery, you’ll adore cities with maker studios. If you collect postcards, you’ll thrive in places with rich printmaking traditions.
2. What spaces make you feel calm, inspired, or curious?
Anchors are emotional. If you feel at peace in gardens, that’s a sign. If you feel alive in bookstores, that’s a sign. If you feel energized in antique markets, that’s a sign.
3. What do you always notice when you visit a new place?
Patterns reveal passions. Do you always comment on architecture? Do you always seek out coffee shops? Do you always wander into local art galleries?
4. What do you love learning about?
